Case Study
Sandra Schofield, CPA is located in Pickering, Ontario and is a small business consisting of just three people, Sandra included and has been operating for over 25 years. Her branding and website were outdated and had no social media presence. Sandra wanted to bring her company to the current year and make her company known in the Durham area. The goal for this project was to rebrand the visual identity of Sandra Schofield; a responsive website to improve readability and performance on tablet and mobile devices; create a social media presence on Facebook and LinkedIn; updating the company logo and print materials.
The logo was outdated, so I brought some life to it. I also created a colour version for the website to reflect the personality their clients know them as in it. Check out the process here to see the original logo.
Custom avatars and icons.
Usually, the colours for accounting firms are corporate, and not very exciting; Sandra did not want that. Her company is located in the Nautical Village, Pickering’s waterfront community, full of trails, sandy beachfront, and a marina, and her office reflects that. Their clients raved about the attitude and atmosphere of the team, as it is very inviting, and does not feel like a typical stiff office space.
This in mind, I chose what I felt as fitting for Sandra’s brand for the type used and colours. Mrs. Eaves is an elegant but still legible serif, which I chose to showcase Sandra's name and title to keep it professional. The subtitles and body text is in the sans serif of Muli, a clean geometric typeface that is easy to read for her clients, as many are of an older demographic. I wanted Sandra’s branding to be reminiscent of the area her office has been in for over 12 years, I chose a dark cerulean as the primary colour, to match the lake, and the companies sign on their front door. The yellow and orange, bringing the feeling of the sun, and the colours of Sandra’s office to their online presence as highlights and accents.
